F1 NDT Technician - Motorsport Valley, UK
(Extensive Travel to Global Formula 1 Race Weekends)

We are a leading engineering organisation supporting high-performance motorsport teams with world-class inspection and quality assurance services. Due to continued growth, we are seeking an experienced Travelling NDT Technician to join our client's dedicated team in Motorsport Valley.

This role offers a unique opportunity to travel regularly with the Race Team to Formula 1 race weekends worldwide, becoming an integral part of trackside operations. You'll provide hands-on technical support to teams in one of the most fast-paced and high-pressure engineering environments.


Key Responsibilities

  • Perform non-destructive testing (NDT) on new and in-service components using the appropriate method (UT, MT, PT, RT, ET, CT & AE) to support the Race Team, Race Support Team and associated programmes-meeting strict deadlines and ensuring right-first-time delivery.

  • Create clear, accurate and timely NDT inspection reports, ensuring all component information is correctly captured and stored.

  • Competent operation of AEE equipment during proof and load testing activities.

  • Ensure proof/load test specifications, programmes and fixtures are correctly maintained and up to date.

  • Work closely with Design Engineers, Materials Science, Stress Engineers, and other technical groups to report findings, review non-conformances and support decision-making.

  • Maintain all NDT and test equipment to a high standard, ensuring it is clean, safe, calibrated and ready for use.

  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives, providing feedback and suggestions via TIP documentation.

  • Manage documentation and file systems (digital and hard copy) for simple, reliable retrieval.

  • Liaise with internal stakeholders and end users as required.

  • When travelling:

    • Support the build, setup and running of race cars under direction of the Chief Mechanic.

    • Provide general garage support.

    • Assist with successful pitstop execution as required.


Requirements

  • PCN Level 2 (or equivalent) or EN4179 accreditation across relevant NDT methods.

  • Strong background in engineering with the ability to interpret technical drawings, specifications and inspection requirements.

  • Proven experience within precision engineering, aerospace or motorsport environments.

  • Excellent knowledge of NDT processes and strong analytical capability.

  • Skilled in MS Office applications with particular experience using Dynamics 365, Excel, Word and engineering portals.

  • Flexible approach to working hours, including short-notice requests for additional support and extensive international travel.

  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to relay technical information clearly across engineering and operational teams.

  • Highly organised, detail-driven and committed to continuous improvement.
