What You'll Be Doing
As a Senior Test Facility Engineer, you'll play a key role in the prototype development, validation and testing of driveline and transmission systems. You'll lead mechanical design and installation activities for bespoke test rigs across automotive, aerospace and marine applications, working closely with multidisciplinary teams to deliver high‑quality test solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead test rig installation work packages, delivering against time, cost and quality targets
- Plan and commission bespoke test rig installations
- Manage design teams, technologies, equipment and installation processes
- Interpret technical requirements and DVPs to ensure rig functionality meets project needs
- Define instrumentation and measurement requirements
- Lead testing across component, system, transmission, driveline and vehicle levels
- Oversee prototype component manufacture and durability/functional testing
- Prepare work proposals and support project planning activity
- Provide technical guidance to engineers and technicians
- Act as the primary technical contact for facility‑related queries
- Monitor project costs, risks and timelines
- Manage facility maintenance schedules to ensure safety and legislative compliance
What You'll Need to Succeed
Essential:
- Degree in Mechanical, Automotive or related Engineering discipline
- Strong grounding in mechanical engineering principles
- Proven experience in mechanical design or installation within automotive or related industries
- Experience installing test rigs, fixtures or specialist test systems
- Broad engineering knowledge of driveline and powertrain systems
- Supplier management experience
- Confident interpreting engineering drawings and technical requirements
- Strong fault‑finding skills
- Proven ability to lead technical tasks and coordinate cross‑disciplinary input
- Excellent communication, presentation and project management skills
