We are supporting a leading Project Management Consultancy (PMC) overseeing several major hyperscale data‑centre developments across Europe. With multiple multi‑hundred‑megawatt and gigawatt‑scale campuses under construction in Helsinki, we are seeking an accomplished Commissioning Lead to ensure flawless end‑to‑end commissioning of mission‑critical infrastructure on some of the largest digital‑infrastructure projects in Europe.

This role sits at the core of project delivery - ensuring systems perform exactly as designed, integrate seamlessly, and are ready to support the world's biggest cloud providers.

The Role

As Commissioning Lead, you will take overall responsibility for planning, coordinating and executing the complete commissioning lifecycle of hyperscale data‑centre projects. Working as the client's trusted commissioning authority, you will align multiple stakeholders - design teams, contractors, vendors and operations - to ensure every electrical and mechanical system is validated, tested and handed over to world‑class standards.

You will lead commissioning strategy, drive quality and compliance, and ensure the site transitions smoothly into live operations.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and implement the overall commissioning strategy for multi‑MW and GW‑scale data‑centre projects.
• Lead commissioning teams across all disciplines (electrical, mechanical, controls, BMS, fire systems).
• Oversee commissioning timelines, sequencing, readiness milestones, IST (Integrated Systems Testing) and final acceptance.
• Ensure all systems - power, cooling, UPS, generators, switchgear, CRAC/CRAH, chilled water, automation - are tested and validated to hyperscale standards.
• Chair commissioning meetings, drive issue resolution, and maintain alignment between construction, engineering and operations teams.
• Coordinate with equipment vendors and OEMs to ensure compliance with testing protocols and warranties.
• Establish and manage commissioning documents, procedures, checklists, FAT/SAT, test scripts and reporting.
• Mitigate risks proactively, identifying system dependencies, critical path items and commissioning‑stage constraints.
• Ensure all commissioning activities adhere to safety, regulatory and client‑specific requirements.
• Act as the senior commissioning representative in client forums, governance reviews and handover sessions.

About You

• Extensive experience in commissioning mission‑critical facilities, ideally hyperscale or large‑scale data centres.
• Strong understanding of electrical and mechanical systems, redundancy architectures and integrated systems testing.
• Proven ability to manage commissioning teams, contractors and vendors across complex, multi‑phase sites.
• Deep familiarity with FAT/SAT, IST, performance testing and handover processes.
• Exceptional communication and coordination skills with the ability to interface confidently with senior client stakeholders.
• Structured, detail‑focused working style with strong problem‑solving capabilities.
• Engineering background (electrical, mechanical or controls) is highly advantageous.
• Ability to thrive in fast‑paced, large‑scale delivery environments.
