Role details:


Our client, a prominent organisation within the Defence & Security sector, is seeking a highly skilled SAP Specialist to support their SAP landscapes on a contract basis. This role demands a technically strong systems administrator with a solid understanding of SAP environments, particularly in S/4HANA and SAP Basis. The successful candidate will play a key role in maintaining system stability, security, and performance across complex landscapes, supporting the organisation's digital transformation and operational resilience.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Managing SAP system landscapes, including daily monitoring and troubleshooting of SAP environments.
  • Supporting SAP installations, configurations, and system copies to ensure operational integrity.
  • Executing system upgrades, kernel patches, and transport management to maintain system security and functionality.
  • Performing database administration tasks for HANA DB and other databases such as Sybase ASE, Oracle, or SQL Server.
  • Monitoring system performance and identifying bottlenecks to optimise workloads.
  • Assisting in SAP HANA administration, schema management, and backups.
  • Implementing backup, recovery, and disaster recovery procedures to ensure system resilience.
  • Supporting security and compliance through user and role administration, audits, and secure configurations.

Job Requirements:

  • Significant experience in SAP Basis administration within complex landscape environments.
  • Strong expertise in S/4HANA and SAP landscape management.
  • Understanding of system upgrades, kernel patching, and transport management systems.
  • Experienced in database administration for HANA, Sybase ASE, and other common databases.
  • Knowledge of operating systems (Linux/Unix/Windows) and monitoring tools for SAP.
  • Experience with SAP security, compliance audits, and data protection standards.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and resolve system incidents swiftly and effectively.
  • Excellent communication, documentation, and teamwork skills to collaborate across technical and business stakeholders.

Desired Skills & Competencies:

  • Experience in managing SAP in cloud environments such as Azure.
  • Proficiency in scripting languages like Shell, Python, or PowerShell for automation tasks.
  • Knowledge of DevOps practices and CI/CD pipelines for SAP transports.
  • Familiarity with advanced monitoring tools like Dynatrace or Grafana.
