Our client, a leader in defence and security, is seeking an experienced Combat Systems Engineer to join their team in Bristol. Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and support naval combat systems projects, ensuring technical excellence and deliverability
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to multidisciplinary teams including graduate trainees
  • Define work scopes, oversee technical assurance, and ensure project governance
  • Manage project programming, reporting, and resource allocation effectively
  • Identify, assess, and mitigate technical and programme risks within projects
  • Engage with stakeholders, liaising with customers, task sponsors, and wider communities
  • Research state-of-the-art naval warfighting technology, supporting innovation and technology exploitation
  • Support the development and refinement of technical scopes of work across diverse projects

Job Requirements:

  • Degree qualified in an engineering discipline relevant to naval combat systems
  • Experience in delivering naval warfare or combat systems engineering projects, with a focus on sense, decide, effect, connect functions
  • Strong knowledge of combat systems integration, including communications, information systems, and naval doctrine
  • Proven ability to lead technical teams and manage complex projects or programmes
  • Understanding of system safety, risk management, and technical assurance processes
  • Significant experience supporting or developing naval combat systems within the last five years
  • Desirable: Chartered engineer status, experience in Test & Evaluation, or working with autonomous vessel systems
