Shape the Future of Advanced Guidance & Control Systems...

This is a highly visible and strategically important role within our clients Guidance, Control and Navigation (GCN) team... offering a rare blend of hands‑on technical development, cutting-edge research, and strategic influence, without the requirement for line management.

You'll be part of a technically exceptional group driving innovation in our next generation of complex products and flight control systems.

What We Offer...

  • Annual Company Bonus
  • Pension: Total contribution (employee + employer) up to 14%
  • Flexible Working Options where possible
  • Enhanced Parental Leave
  • Outstanding On‑Site Facilities: Including subsidised meals, free parking, and more...

The Opportunity...

As a Senior Algorithm Specialist, you will:

  • Develop and refine sophisticated Guidance & Control algorithms at both detailed design and high-level system architecture stages.
  • Influence current and future design and testing approaches for complex G&C systems.
  • Work across diverse and high‑tech subsystems, including:
    • RF & IR seekers
    • Inertial sensors
    • Actuation systems
    • Propulsion technologies (turbojets, ramjets, thrust-vectoring rockets)
    • Launch platform interfaces (surface and airborne)
  • Collaborate across multiple departments, directorates, partner nations, and project phases, from conceptual research through to flight trials.

This role is an excellent fit for someone who thrives on solving complex technical challenges and contributing to the strategic direction of advanced aerospace systems...

What We're Looking For...

You will bring:

  • Strong theoretical knowledge and extensive experience in aerospace guidance, control and navigation - including specification, analysis, algorithm design, implementation, and real‑time system architecture.
  • Ability to define, narrow and articulate complex engineering problems into clear design requirements.
  • Proven experience managing system complexity and identifying key drivers in interconnected engineering environments.
  • Strong capability in cross‑verification, validating models and systems against underlying theory.
  • Excellent communication skills - especially when explaining complex or abstract concepts.
  • Ability to diagnose system abnormalities both physically and through simulation (MATLAB & Simulink).
  • Technical influence in multidisciplinary settings, even where broader programme factors apply.
  • A passion for control applications - flight control experience is advantageous but not essential.
